SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND: From Stratford to Holborn via Uranus @radiosoulwax #SFTW

This week the usual Spotify link doesn't suffice…  I'm afraid you'll need a smartphone and if you are thus endowed don't worry, the app is free and it delivers a delightful audio-visual experience that discerning music fans can't afford to miss out on.  And the concept and content would not be out of place as an installation in the Tate Modern.  I speak of course of the their royal highnesses 2manyDj's aka Soulwax.

This morning their Radio Soulwax app kept me tapping away in unassuming amazement whilst tackling the daily tube challenge from Stratford to Holborn - but unknown to those around me I was on a celestial disco voyage via Uranus.  A friend who'd tried RSWX in the office wasn't so sure citing mashup tragedies Jive Bunny!..  I don't just think you get it Charlie (he's a little mainstream).  OK, there's a time and a place but to me this is a high art masterpiece for the beat generation.  In fact there are 16 themed hour long mixes for most times and places, with a further 8 hours of genius due by the new year, all free.  If I were a club promotor I be throwing themed parties around each new release with the amazing animated record sleeve visuals projected across the venue.  But I'm not, so I guess I'll just listen and watch Radio Soulwax on tube.  Humm, happy days :)
