Interactive Adverts & Synchronised Storylines

Ever bumped in to someone whilst walking along, eyes down, so deeply engrossed in your phone that you've actually stopped looking where you are going?   Well audio and image recognition are technologies that potentially require the adoption of protective clothing for everyday life.  They create a multitude of possibilities for advertising and, perhaps more interestingly, for the narrative structure of any cross platform storyline.  Through early examples of audio and image recognition one can envision iGames played the world over using multiple devices unlocking content in a range of different environments, both indoors and outside.  Using both technologies in parallel broadcasters could synch to a soundtrack and trigger different image overlays based on our location, teasing us to unlock those images to trigger a further, deeper, localised offer or experience.  It seems to me we are destined to continue bumping into each other as we walk around holding our smartphones aloft in a bid to catch the next instalment of our virtual reality.  

Considering the health risks of this type of advertising becoming used outdoors isn't it wonderfully ironic that an insurance company should be one of the early adopters.  None the less here are some really nice examples of interactive adverts (iAd's) using location, audio or image triggered additional content...
